Equal Pay and the EU Pay Transparency Directive

Tutors: Mikela Fenech Pace & Paul Gonzi (Fenech & Fenech Advocates)

The EU Pay Transparency Directive is set to change how organisations define, evaluate, and communicate pay. This session will help leaders, HR professionals, and decision makers move beyond theory to understand both the legal framework and the practical realities of implementation.

Through a case-based, discussion-driven format, participants will explore the core principles of job evaluation, apply them to real-world scenarios, and examine how these influence pay structures, equity, and compliance. The session will also address common challenges and grey areas that organisations face when putting the directive into practice: from employee transparency rights and communication strategies to aligning pay with business objectives.

By the end of the session, participants will:

  • Gain a clear understanding of the directive’s key legal requirements and timelines
  • Learn how to conduct and interpret job evaluations to support pay transparency
  • Identify common challenges, practical considerations, and strategic responses
  • Explore the directive’s impact on recruitment, promotion, and reward structures
  • Develop approaches to turn compliance into an opportunity for greater fairness, trust, and organisational credibility

This course is designed for leaders and senior HR professionals seeking to translate the EU Pay Transparency Directive into effective, sustainable practice.
