Starting 2022 in line with the last Budget

When we said we’ve got your back, we meant it! As another year draws to an end and everyone gets ready for some seasonal festivities, Shireburn’s Indigo is on hand to make the transition to the new year run smoothly.

Here are the ways Indigo will help you comply with the measures announced in the Budget for 2022.

Budget 2022 MeasuresIndigo’s Approach
Part-time Tax Reduction from 15% to 10%
  • The standard part-time tax rate has been set to automatically switch to the new rate as of 1st January 2022, without users having to do anything on their end.
  • The tax codes and descriptions in our system have been updated for more clarity.
First €10,000 Overtime Taxed at 15% for non-managerial employees with an annual basic salary up to €20,000
  • We have updated the support file in the pay item taxation profile to have a value-based capping of €10,000.
  • There is a new field for value in the Employee Previous Main Employment screen.
SSC rates updated.
  • The new rates for 2022 will be applied automatically in Indigo on 1st January 2022.

Part-time Tax Reduction from 15% to 10%

In the 2022 Budget, the government gave part-timers news of a tax reduction from 15 percent down to 10 percent. Indigo has been programmed to apply this new tax rate as of 1st January 2022, getting on with the extra work so you can get on with your payrolls without missing a beat.

We have also taken this opportunity to rename the part-time tax codes and update their descriptions to make selecting the correct tax rate easier for you.

Automatic switch to a value-driven Overtime Concession

Once again we’ve made sure Indigo will take care of your overtime taxation needs, thanks to the updated support file in the pay item taxation profiles. This now caters to the new value-based overtime concession and will kick in automatically on 1st January 2022 without you having to lift a finger. This means that Indigo will automatically apply the 15 percent tax rate for non-managerial employees with an annual basic salary up to €20,000 up to the first €10,000 worth of overtime worked.

To help you keep up to date throughout our system, we have included new fields for OT Concession Value in the Employees Previous Employment tab, in the sections for ‘Employee Previous Main Employment’ and ‘Employment Details To Date’, for ease of reference.

Updated SSC and maternity fund rates are standing by for 2022

Social security and maternity fund contributions have been adjusted, in line with advice from the Commissioner of Inland Revenue.

At the time of publication the rates in Indigo are correct, as we requested them from CfR; however we strongly recommend you confirm these rates with CfR before calculation of payrolls.

The Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) has also been raised to €1.75 per week, and you can apply this across the board or to selected employees using our helpful Global Basic Pay Adjustments Utility.

Now that we’ve set your Budget-2022 worries to rest, tuck in to a mince pie and raise a toast with us to the new year!

6 reasons why Indigo Attendance is the perfect fit for your Indigo Suite

All businesses operate differently, especially when it comes to scheduling work for employees. What works for a factory setting does not work for your convenience or retail shop, or neither for your remote-based workers or office space. Indigo Attendance simplifies staff scheduling and attendance tracking for businesses of any size and type. The award-winning solution provides you with complete control in how you manage your company’s schedules, attendance exceptions and automation for bonuses and penalties.

How automated attendance management can boost your bottom line

At Shireburn we understand that your workforce is one of your key resources, which means that labour costs are one of the main contributors to business expenses. This is why employee time and attendance management could have a substantial impact on your bottom line.

Furthermore, the use of an automated, cloud-based time and attendance management solution like Indigo Attendance can increase the overall productivity of your team. Indigo Attendance helps avoid payroll errors while standardizing your scheduling processes. Ensuring your timekeeping data is accurate also reduces your HR team’s workload.

Below are some of the top benefits of using Indigo Attendance to automate your attendance management workflow.

Reducing Human Error

Many companies still depend on a pen-and-paper approach for time-tracking – a process that can be easily affected by human error, such as entering inaccurate hours. Using Indigo Attendance along with clocking data from a punch-clock device, you can ensure that accurate data is always gathered.

Indigo Attendance automatically allocates the vacation leave records of employees to their schedules without any manual intervention, reducing false errors.

Understanding Employee Costs

Increased data accuracy allows for better insights into labour costs. The reporting functionality available in Indigo Attendance allows you to gain a clear picture of your employee cost. This comprehensive understanding of your company’s employee costs will empower you to make more informed decisions.

The Indigo Attendance Scheduler includes Costings and Budgeting features that will allow you to calculate the value of allocated shifts, set a cost or hours budget for specific cost centres and allow you to see the budgeted and scheduled costs and hours worked out and presented as net costs and hours.

Empowering Your Workforce

Employees can easily access their upcoming and remaining leave balances as well as apply for time off through the employee portal. Additionally, employees can view their shifts and clockings through Indigo Mobile. This empowers your team by allowing them to access all of their time and attendance data at their convenience.

This empowerment can help improve employee satisfaction and engagement, which have a direct impact on the efficiency of your team.

Increased HR Productivity

Upgrading to automated attendance management will also result in your HR team spending less time dealing with payroll calculations and employee scheduling, allowing them to focus on other essential tasks.

For example, the Indigo Attendance Proximity feature takes away the tedious task of maintaining a schedule. This feature populates your Scheduler on your behalf by using actual clocking data that you import into the system. Proximity works by comparing an employee’s first clock-in against the nearest timings of the shift presets to determine which shift to allocate.

Payroll Integration

Indigo Attendance seamlessly integrates with Indigo Payroll, so all attendance data is sent to your payroll module at the click of a button. This means that attendance information can be processed easily and without manual intervention, resulting in a more accurate payroll.

Indigo Suite also allows you to transfer authorized rewards and penalties seamlessly to Indigo Payroll for simpler payroll processing.
