What is Collaboration?The act of working together
Working together is fine when you are all around the same table but this is rare. When people are at their own desks in the same office, sharing information and knowledge to ensure the most effective business process is a challange.
Now stretch this across an organisation with people working in multiple office or from home or while travelling and then take it to anothjer level to consider collaboration across various organisations. That's where the challange is multipled.
While e-mail has allowed us to communicate better, faster and cheaper, we are approaching barriers to this technology. Volumes of mail are rising, especially with spam. The e-mail inbox and its folder structure is not designed for optimised storage, archiving and searching of massive amounts of data which are now often reaching gigabytes in size for individual users.
